It was a sunny Sunday afternoon, cold but bright. Mum was getting cabin fever and needed to get out of the city . . . . . being a dutiful daughter, I obliged! Picked her up around 11 and off we went to Lunenburg.
OK - so it's a feeble excuse for wanting to check out the sale at Comfort & Joy who have a store in Bedford, minutes up the road from Mum's place. But the sale was only on in Lunenburg.
OK, enough of the excuses. A child-free afternoon on a beautiful sunny day does not need to be excused. Lovely drive, haven't been out of the city in ages and only a few stores open, just as well. The post-Christmas sale at C&J was excellent, mind you Christmas decorations don't have quite the same appeal when you have just put them all away for another year. Still, we managed to buy a few new treasures.
Last time I was in Lunenburg was with The McCabes when they came to visit in 2006 (was it really 06?) and it is as pretty a town as ever. But quiet - a Sunday afternoon on January is a little different to the height of the tourist season. Will def go back this summer when all the stores are open - sale or no sale!
