Well it may have been an historical day at Croke Park in Dublin last Saturday when Ireland took on England in the Six Nations (Rugby) Championships not only because of the historical significance, but because we beat England (not a common occurrence in Rugby). I am sure a Sea of Green in the stands was a great sight!
No doubt there will be alot of wearing the green in a few weeks time on March 17th in Dublin, Halifax, New York and many other places on the day everyone wants to be Irish.
More importantly, we will have our green jerseys out the week of May 14th - 20th when the 2007 World Indoor Lacrosse Championships are held in Halifax. The main reason is not because we are fanatical sports fans or the fact that we love Lacrosse - it's for the simple reason that my cousin Chris (from Vancouver) will be playing for Ireland, yes I said Ireland. Chris travelled to Dublin recently for the try-outs (just about made it on time thanks to his Auntie Patsy) and apparently showed them how it's done.
Well done Chris - looking forward to seeing you in action & wearing the Green! There may not be scenes of Amhrán na bhFiann and Ireland's Call being "belted out with such hair-raising intensity that men and women were crying as they sang", (as quoted in the Irish Times) but we'll be there to support you all the same.
