It's a long way

It may be a long way from Dublin to Halifax and just as long a way from Dublin to New York, even for a seasoned traveller like my Mum (Patsy), but for a wee dog who is more used to sitting on a throne (read window ledge) and used to the finer things in life, it must have been a very long trip from Dublin to NYC in an air kennel in the cargo hold of an Aer Lingus Airbus.

I am so pleased to report that despite the long journey, the cold weather, ice on the plane etc both Mum & Oisin (pronounced Usheen to our North-American friends) arrived safe & sound in JFK on Thursday afternoon. What an adventure for a little dog. From what I heard from Patsy, he certainly turned heads and made a few friends at Customs & Excise in JFK. Meanwhile Susie was left waiting & wondering in Arrivals for what have seemed an eternity.

But it was worth the wait. Other than a little jetlag and a torn nail (Oisin) all are well. Another chapter begins as Mum & Oisin start a new life in NYC, having packed their bags and done something very similar to what we did almost exactly a year ago.

Mum - it's your turn to start a blog!!! Looking forward to seeing you guys in Halifax for St Patrick's weekend.

  1. Oisin is experiencing some changes to his routine: no more running free as the wind on the green in Killough,-it's sooooo cold and he slips on the ice- or being on a long lead so he could play with the cats, the squirrels just are not responding to him in the same way!!
Given it is too cold for him to wait in the car, he is housebound more than he would like!!And he turns his wee nose up at the peanut butter nibbles Susie got for him..and when she washes his paws so that they don't muddy her beautiful Tibetan rugs, he knows its a new life!
