Everyone loves an Irish accent

Not too long after we moved (back) here I started teaching again and one of the things I used to apologise for was my accent. I was afraid that people wouldn’t be able to understand me.
Then I realised that nearly everyone here has links to Cape Breton or Newfoundland or PEI and sure they all talk funny too. More than that I realised that people love the Irish accent. So I started to use it to my advantage, no more apologising and I don’t take offense if people ask me to repeat myself, well not the first 2 times anyway.

Now DJ is picking up a bit of the accent but some of words he says are definitely Irish – like ‘garage’. His teachers may not understand him but sure the girls will love him even more because everyone loves an Irish accent!
