Well, we must be settled because we have reached the stage of trading-it-in-getting-a-new-one. For a while Jonathan has been protesting the fact that he feels like 'Soccer Mom' when driving to work in the 7-seater mini-van that we bought a week after arriving here. Of course I remind him, it was a firstly a symbol of our independence (Dad did lend us his Aerostar when we got here for which we were very grateful), we moved all our stuff from Grand Lake to here in it; we brought home furniture in it; all those trees & shrubs we bought had to be transported too; we drove to New York in it. And of course it was a source of material for the blog (see the first MacGyver story).
And now it's gone! I know it's only a car but I get so sentimental sometimes. For quite a while Jonathan has been on the look-out for a Ford Explorer, since we got here actually. So when he called on Friday morning to say he had found one - I should have been ready for what followed. Within a matter of hours we were driving home in it and had waved good-bye to the Windstar.
Funny thing is the Explorer is a 7 seater too, and it's sliver and it's the same size engine, but it looks like a Jeep, more truck than van. Must be a male thing, although I have to say I quite like it too.
Is he happy? You bet - finally got what he wanted. And he has spent most of the morning out in the garage changing spark-plugs and filters and whatever else. Mind you I am afraid to stand still for too long or he may trade me in for a different model!
Picture, you say? It's the one on the left.
Don't stand still!!!!
