Six months ago on this date we landed in Canada, emotionally & physically exhausted, not really knowing what was ahead of us. Today, with slightly sore heads, we reflect on the last six months that have been one hell of a journey!
Sometimes it feels like a lifetime ago that we left, other days feels like yesterday. Most importantly, we feel like this is Home and we want to share with our friends and family. For Jonathan, especially, that's been the hardest part, pictures and emails only convey some of it. He is immensely proud of what we have done and what we have achieved here and wants to share it with people who matter. We have been lucky enough to have been able to share it with most of my family at various stages. Just yesterday, we had my Dad, Jane, Doug & Amanda out to see the latest updates to the house - driveway & landscaping. Naturally they all made the right noises, knowing they wouldn't be invited back if they didn't ;) So, for those of you who haven't been to visit yet, start planning your trip and those of you who have been, you are more than welcome to come back sometime soon!
Six months on, 4 of them at the new house. What's the best part? Today, sitting on the deck with the wind rustling through the trees, I have to say it's the sense of peace & belonging that is the best. A real sense of HOME. Helen Keller’s words come to mind “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched, they must be felt with the heart.”
We do our best to bring you a little bit of our world and we thank all of you who have stayed in touch, read the blog, posted comments, looked at the pictures etc. Speaking of which it seems like a good time to put together a now & then album too, so click on the link above (the title, Major Milestone) and see for yourself just how far we have come. At the end of the day, it’s not really a long way from Dublin to Halifax!!! Sure, what’s a few thousand miles between friends?
