July Long Weekend Pt 2

What's a better way to spend a long weekend than getting in the car and going for a drive?
HARVEY!
A: Climbing aboard Harvey the RV with the family and heading to the Valley (aka Wine Country)

Which we did - Dad, Jane, Doug, Amanda, us 3 and even Granby came too  . . . what a hoot! We brought snacks, wine, beer - Beverly Hillbillies how are you?

PIE @ The Evangeline
A trip to the valley is not complete without a stop at The Evangeline Motel & restaurant for a bowl of Corn Chowder and a piece of pie. as we were a big group, we pretty much ordered every pie on the menu - Lemon meringue, strawberry, rhubarb, blueberry, chocolate . . . and a couple of milkshakes too please!

Enjoying the View at Luckett's Vineyard

Then off to Pete Luckett's new Vineyard, which opened the previous day. Pete was there and sat down for a chat as we sipped and swirled and tasted a flight of wine on the patio, and quizzed Pete about the old English phone box that was sitting in the middle of the front garden. He says he came over from the UK  in it many years ago :)
Grand Pre Vineyard

As much as I love Pete's new place, I am still loyal to Grand Pre, so we had to stop off on the way back to pick up a few bottles (cases) of Verrazano - my summer drink of choice - and to check on my vine, get the annual summer photo etc.

When we first came to NS, I believe there were 6 vineyards in NS, now we have 13, with #14 due to open in the Fall  -apparently the combination of the land, soil and moderating effects of the Atlantic Ocean have  created vineyards unlike any others in the world. One more reason to love living in NS!
