July 1st - Canada Day - long weekend so we skipped town and headed to Cape Breton for a few days. We missed out on the Fireworks because they cancelled them in Baddeck due to the weather forecast - which was wrong! Oh well. We wore red and went for a wander around the town before heading to the restaurant and downing a couple of Canadian Cosmos and a yummy dinner. 
We stayed at the Inverary where we had been a few years ago - even got a sitter so we could go to the bar for a while! DJ didn't seem to mind the fact that we left him with a pretty blonde stranger who read him stories and let him watch TV!
A bit of sightseeing, walking the boardwalk, a little excursion around the harbour, a bit of shopping and a dip in the pool, good food and a huge bed - big enough for the 3 of us to sleep in very comfortably (yes someone is still insisting on sleeping in our bed most of the night - a bad habit that started in Dublin!)
Ah yes - the perfect getaway weekend. When is the next one? And where are we going?
