I know there comes a time when all babies turn into little kids and then into big kids, but it seems to happen very quickly. For a while now, DJ has been more little by than baby. That coupled with the fact that he seems to be unable to sleep on his own bed for more than a few hours a night prompted us to purchase a new bed for our little boy!
That meant the 'lifetime crib' he was still sleeping in had to be dismantled and as we did so, I decided the Winnie-the-Pooh look wouldn't suit a big boy (double) bed. As I couldn't decorate his room pink (my fave colour) I indulged in a major Winnie-the-Pooh theme including bedclothes, books, border, Tigger Rocker etc etc.

As he is now 3 and has a total obsession with trucks and cars and anything with an engine in it; a construction theme seemed to be the natural choice for the next stage in bedroom decor.
So move over Winnie the Pooh - here comes Bob the Builder.
Mind you there a re a few classic pieces that will remain, at least until he is old enough - and tall enough - to take them down himself. In particular 2 pictures - one from Auntie Susie (Pooh & Pals) and an old one of mine (I am never afraid with you) . . . .

It seems every little boy I know is going through this phase ... they'll even watch home reno shows as long as someone's taking a sledgehammer to a wall. For a real treat, take him to a demolition site someday -- his eyes will pop out of his head.
ReplyDeleteThe easiest way to get him out of the house is to say we are going to look at a construction site, or 'Working site' as he calls them. I never thought of a demo site though!
ReplyDeleteAnd as for TV - HGTV is is second fave channel. On Sunday morning he said to his Dad 'I have an idea - let's go downstairs and watch Hot Rod'. For once he got a positive response (to watching TV).
