I love celebrating and birthdays are the best because generally you don't have to share them! This year was a low-key affair and those ones can be some of the best - no expectations etc. So, I got over the fact that some people chose not to acknowledge my day and instead, chose to spend the day with those that would - starting with pancakes drowned in maple syrup (DJ) and delicious crepes for brekkie with my boys. Then off to a party for a 2-year old who shares the same day!
Then a little bit of pampering (hair cut, a long-standing birthday tradition) and despite the fact that Mother Nature was not really cooperating, we headed for the boat. Took a trip 'downtown' (waterside) and had a wee look at the visiting navel ships that are in town for the International Fleet review (part of the Navy Centennial Celebrations).
A couple of hours later we were back at the mooring - hair not nearly as coiffed as it was setting out - and partied onboard for a while (BBQ, cake, presents and more wine) until we decided to stay out and enjoy the nightlife in Hali.

We caught the end of a private 'do' at Keiths and then went on to Elephant & castle for cocktails (me) and beers (all the others). Woke this morning in a small bed (!) with a banging headache - must have been a good one. Ah, yes it's all coming back to me now - those Gin Martinis were really good :-)
