Last year we were at a local Charity Auction and well let's say Jonathan really got into the spirit of it :) Disappointed that he was outbid on a John Deere bicycle, he surprised all of us (especially me) when he put his hand up to bid on an item that wasn't on our bid list - a one-off Time Share for a week pretty much anywhere in the world, you just have to get yourself there. I guess nobody else wanted to disappoint him so one bid was all it took and next thing we know people are congratulating him on a serious Bargain.
That was a year ago this week . . . . and we went back and forth on the wheres & hows. In some cases we found a where but the how was way too expensive. We even considered using it at home in Dublin (I wouldn't say no to a week in Fitzpatrick's Hotel in Killiney, I have loved that place ever since our Deb(utante) ball there). We thought Florida would be a great vacation but it's actually not an easy spot to get to from Halifax unless you like changing planes all day.

So. . . we decided that we would stay close to home as we were lucky to get a week at
Whitepoint Beach Resort, only 2 hours drive from Hali. We lucked out for sure - beautiful spot, great scenery, access to Leisure Centre, Restaurant, Bar, Spa and the weather was pretty good too. In fact we liked it so much we turned a long weekend into a week away.

I had heard a few references to bunnies but didn't realise that WP is practically a rabbit sanctuary. There are signs warning driver to slow down as "Children & Bunnies are everywhere". Not an exaggeration. And they are so tame, some will even eat out of your hand. No surprise the bunnies are referred to as 'best fed' and 'slightly overweight'. Needless to say DJ was in his element, laughing and chasing bunnies every chance he got.
We enjoyed it so much we contemplated going to this year's Church Auction (this weekend) to see if we could score another bargain, but we decided you can have too much of a good thing and we'll let someone else have a turn this year.
Yes, a wonderful mini-vacation, just long enough to put you in the humour for a real one :)
