Great to be back

We have been a way a couple of times since we moved into our new place in Fall River, coming home is always great and this time was no exception. Having been back in Dublin and revisited Prospect; driven around the city; sat in traffic jams etc, it was a great homecoming. Dad picked us up at the airport - a sense of deja vu - mind you we were in much better shape this time compared to our arrival last February.

A cup of tea always helps to ground oneself so as the kettle boiled, we brought the bags upstairs (decided to leave the unpacking to the next day), checking that all was where it should be. The plants were a little parched but other than that all was in order. So we lit the fire, poured a cuppa, sat down in our big living room and felt very grateful to be back in our little corner of the world, having had a brilliant time in Dublin.

Susie had said to me that we would probably only appreciate all the fun we had in Dublin when we got back, because we would be so busy doing stuff. Well she sure was right - as much as I tried to appreciate it all while we were there, I hardly stood still for 9 days. So, back at home, catching my breath I had time to reflect and I can say is it was wonderful to see everyone, sad to not see some people, it was an eye-opener to be back in Dublin city but we really are glad to be back in Canada.
When we left last February, there was alot of unknowns; hence it was a little scary. This time, we knew what we were coming back to and we were very comfortable with it. Jonathan was actually excited to go back to work the next morning!

So what do we miss about Dublin? Our family & friends and shopping!! Other than that, there is a sense of Dublin is not what it used to be, or maybe we just see it with fresh eyes. It is still greener than here; definitely more crowded; the song Dirty Old Town is definitely appropriate. Yes, we have definitely transitioned to life in Canada and would find it hard to live in Dublin again. So, we will be here for a while - those of you that are planning a visit, there's no rush but don't let that stop you!
