(My first) TKD Ch'ang-Hon Challenge

I remember someone saying you should do a tournament as early as possible in your BB journey. Being in NS, there are not many tournaments to attend, so when it came up last year, DJ & I were all set to compete as yellow belts/green stripes and then I broke my wrist!

So DJ competed and I sat in the bleachers as part of the cheer leading squad, even if my clapping was limited. Roll on 2018 challenge and now we are both blue stripes. Not Juniors anymore! DJ opted to reverse the role this year with him sitting in the bleachers and me on the competition floor.

I can not remember the last time that I competed in anything sports-related and it was entirely nerve-wrecking. Lined up with 4 other 'oldies', all of whom were Junior belts, I could barely keep my knees from knocking. So when I was called to do my pattern, I went completely into autopilot (I don't remember anything, except that I was beaten). Second round same thing. Ego in tatters, I really thought I was better than that, Thankfully Master Bill comes over and whispers in my ear. "Great job, but do you know what you did?" he says. "NO!", says I. Apparently I made a mistake, not once but twice and the judges saw it both times. A right over left that should have been a left over right. And I had no idea that I had done it. at least I know now. Somehow I feel WON-HYO will never be my favourite tul!
