A small group for this grading, but thrilled to grade with my Little Darling. Its taken us both a while to get here, on my part 5 months away from training put me back quite a bit. DJ's excuse? He's young and busy with stuff, not overly competitive and in some ways maybe waiting for me.
After my green belt grading I made a conscious effort to learn more and have been attending "kick night" as often as I can. Kick Night comes right after Kids Night and DJ decided he wanted to try it too. I think that was his turing point, being around the adults, getting noticed by the black belts and learning some cool kicks all helped turn him back on to TKD.
Now, I am thinking I can amp it up a bit more - "fight night" is Thursdays. Once upon a time, I couldn't contemplate classes 2 nights in a row because I felt I needed the recovery time. Now I am hungry for it, I want to learn more, I want to get better. Yes, I am competitive in that respect, if I can't be good at something I don't really want to do it. Is that the ego talking? Most likely.
