Not only did I have the honour of seeing my Little Darling make his First Communion, I also had the pleasure of seeing his whole class who I was teaching this past year. What an handsome group of little angels!
It was one of those pass-the-kleenex days from the minute we got to the church and saw the prayers that incorporated their names. We are lucky to have DJ's Godfather living close by so he was able to make it but sadly it's a long way from Dublin to here so Godmother Alison was with us in spirit only. It's also days like these that we miss having his Nana Betty with us - she would have spoiled him rotten, in true Irish fashion!
But DJ is forever the moment and loved the attention - bringing up the gifts in particular. And the cake. Lots of cake thanks to Susannah's awesome planning.
I never appreciated the saying: 'It takes a village to raise a child' until this year. Being a part of the 'village' that got the kids to this stage is an honour and a challenge - one that I am delighted I was part of but right now undecided if I will do it again.
