Snowmageddon

I have a feeling that Winters were like this when I was younger. I seem to remember months of snow; skating on frozen lakes; wearing snowsuits to school every day; never worrying about snow clearing!

But now it seems endless. Mainly because its March and that means it should be Spring any day. Daffodil day is soon isn't it? There is so much snow out there that I am pretty sure it will still be there in the Dog Days of summer - when we are complaining that it's too hot!

In 9 years this is the most snowfall we have seen. Word has it that the last two snowstorms have dumped more snow on Halifax than 2004's White Juan. Its been a short snow season but brutal. Sure it only started snowing in February.

It was not unusual to see plumes of snow appearing over mountains of snow,

or abandoned snow blowers.

I would say there will be quite a few services being done when the weather warms up. Nobody wants a repeat performance next year but I am sure we will all be ready for it. Just in case.

I think if we had all this back in December/January I could deal with it better. So late in the season is what I struggle with. But on our walk this evening I had this sense that we have 'survived' Winter. Which is a great feeling considering 24 hours ago I was feeling beat.

It's Canada, it's Winter. I know we should expect it but times like this I do feel more Irish than Canadian!
