Mother's Day

DJ brought home unidentified (wrapped) gifts from daycare on Thursday, so I knew I would have something to mark my first Mother's Day! When I opened them I was initially surprised to see what the kids had been up to, but then I remembered crafts are a bit of speciality at daycare. A stretched canvas, complete with painted hand prints and a verse on the back; a plant pot (we'll see what grows in it) and a handmade card - priceless.

But we started the celebrations with dinner at Swiss Chalet on Saturday night. We decided to go out and beat the crowds! And because I had been out all day at a local Business Expo and really had no idea what to cook for dinner. Not to mention I love the dipping sauce at SC :)

Sunday morning, I got the royal treatment - breakfast in bed, cards, presents, roses (well we missed out on the anniversary this year!), shopping and for dinner - lamb chops on the BBQ! DJ discovered corn on the cob, and had to share, as seen here.

Even though DJ is a little young to wash dishes without breaking them, Daddy took care of all the cleaning up. Thanks guys for a memorable first Mother's Day.

Mind you it took me until Monday to track down my own Mum, who celebrated in NY with Susie. But I am hoping we can make up for it when Mum is back in Halifax!
