St Patrick & All things Irish

St Patrick's & Easter so close together . . . . . did you hear St Patrick's Day 2009 will be March 15th??? Well, this year we celebrated it on Saturday because it is not a holiday here . . . . ie everyone is at work. So, I am home listening to the radio - bad Irish accents and stories about St Patrick - give me Gerry Ryan please!

Anyways, we decorated the place with Shamrocks everywhere and just like last year, suggested all wear green. The weather was a disappointment - it snowed all day and by the time we were expecting company, the driveway resembled a ski run (no point in plowing as it was still snowing).

Despite that, we got a good turn-out and as expected, everyone got in the spirit of it, with the prize for best outfit going to Jeff (Shamrock & Guinness boxers over his jeans!) and for originality to Louise's Leprechaun punch - complete with Limerick:

This sparkling juice caused the Leprechaun to blink
The colour delightful, it did make him think:
"If I have just one sip,
I may start to tip. . . .
Ah, Blarney, let's all have a drink!!"

One of our friends summed it up nicely - "Saint Patrick’s Day with truly Irish people isn’t the same as Saint Patrick’s Day with those who claim to be!!!

Wherever you are and whatever you are doing - raise a glass for us! We're thinking of you!
