Happy Thanksgiving

Yes, any excuse for a dinner party and I am on it! Mind you this one was different. I seem to have mastered the art of delegation - now when people say what they can bring, I don't fob them off, I actually suggest something to bring or in this case which course they can cover (Alfie did ask how many courses we were having, thus figuring out if his hollow legs had enough room for a second helping of soup).

So Lori looked after the soup course - a delicious homemade (Cream of) Squash. I looked after the meat (Turkey of course) & potatoes (roasties). Patsy was charged with raiding the Farmer's Market for fresh veggies (carrots, parsnips & my fave brussel sprouts - all cooked al dente!). Our neighbours (not in attendance at dinner) had been to the U-pick in the valley last weekend and very kindly brought round some apples, so we had French Apple Pie (a Patsy special) for dessert. Topped it off with a few Irish coffees and Butlers chocolates and we were all stuffed - like the Turkey that was!

Things to be grateful for this year - well, top of the list: friends & family. This year, we have all our friends back in Dublin to think of and in addition a few new ones, some of whom joined in the celebration (even Alfie's girlfiend Meaghan was brave enough to join us). And now that Patsy & Oisin are living in Halifax too, we have most of my immediate family in close proximity. Those that weren't here in person - we were with you in spirit (Jameson & Bailey's!!) and if I remember correctly, we talked to most of you on the phone at some point during the evening ;)

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving too.
