Had a great weekend at Oak Island Hotel to celebrate Jonathan's birthday . . . . got a great deal with TeamBuy and spent most of the weekend trying to get DJ out of the pool.
A relaxing couple of days, the hotel was pretty quiet so we had the pick of the best seats. In fact we kinda took over the lounge area. Great big fireplace, the kind that's so deep you have to climb inside to light it!
The food was excellent - from the foccaia bread used to make the Club sandwich to the maple butter sauce & garlic mash that the Chicken "Cordon Oak" was served with.

Highlight was probably the pool - DJ had a ball. Looks like the swimming lessons last year at Dal really paid off. He was practically doing lengths by the time we left. And all that exercise makes him very tired so naps were on the agenda too! And he met a couple of kids - including a 9-year old boy who had a great time chasing him around the pool, playing sharks & whales, and that's when they weren't driving trucks around the lounge!! Makes a change from Barbie dolls at daycare with the girls!
Back to town on Tuesday afternoon and dinner at Dad&Jane's - presents, beer, cake and good company.
Next year is a big b/day for J - wonder what we'll do to celebrate that milestone!
An empty hotel, a fun-filled pool, a cool guy named DJ ... what more do you need?
